Introduction
These Model Internal Operations Resource Hub for Shelters and Helplines (internal policies and sample forms) were developed by Ushindi Empowerment Group and were informed by the experiences and insights shared by the Sauti Kenya Shelters and helplines cohort 2024, a cohort of 20 women’s shelters and helplines drawn from three counties in Kenya ( Nairobi, Kajiado and Kiambu Counties). The resources are not comprehensive and organisations and experts in the gender based violence referral pathway are encouraged to recommend and share other relevant resources.
We encourage shared creation, open sharing,continued improvement and collective ownership. The resources will also be continuously validated and updated by members of the Global Network for Women Shelters are designed to be an open source resource hub for gender based violence shelters and helplines in Kenya and beyond. We appreciate the input of each of the shelters and helplines represented in the cohort as well as Jackline Ng’ang’a for her valuable inputs.
